Kansas City Hip Hop Week - One city, one vision, one week. 


It all started with founder Gigi aka Mizno Meals, who brought her idea of joining the community in Kansas City together through a week long journey highlighting the culture of Hip Hop new and old in our city! Everyday of the second annual KCHHW, there was two or more events in the city that brought together upcoming musicians, artists, dancers, producers, promoters, podcasts, entrepreneurs, influencers, community members and representatives of the city of Kansas City that came together in one room to celebrate, learn from each other & network together! 


Kansas City Hip Hop week launched their second year with their Mixer/Networking panel which allowed the city to meet and greet, and come together as a community for the launch & rundown of what to expect throughout Kansas City Hip Hop Week: June 1st - June 7th! 


Below is a schedule of the events that took place every day during KCHHW! 

Day 1 - Sunday June 1st

  • KCHHW Press Conference / Mixer @ (Below) Extra Virgin 10AM - 2PM with Panel

  • Kick Off Party @ VIP Lounge (1436 Kansas Ave) 5PM - 9PM with Dj Street King


Day 2 - Monday June 2nd

  • Beats & Business: Part 1 - Financial Empowerment w/ Lead Bank @ Pathway Financial Education (1520 E 18th St) - 4PM - 6PM

  • Beginners Hip Hop Class @ The Next Paige (5930 Troost) - 6PM

  • Advanced Hip Hop Class @ The Next Paige (5930 Troost) - 7PM

  • Open Mic Night @ Black Charlies (6151 Blue Ridge Blvd) - 8PM


Day 3 - Tuesday June 3rd 

  • IMKC Meet & Greet @ IMKC Store (Ward Parkway Mall) 2PM - 5PM

  • Beats & Business: Part 2 - Radio Play & Industry Standard @ Lovely La’s Cafe (6145 Blue Ridge) - 6PM


Day 4 - Wednesday June 4th

  • Beats & Business: Part 3 - Marketing & Promotion w/ Viral Panel @ 1106 E 30th St - 4PM - 7PM

  • Ladies Night @ Vashon’s Lounge (8015 Troost) 7PM - Midnight 


Day 5 - Thursday June 5th 

  • FusionFest: Art, Music & History Showcase @ Bruce R Watkins Cultural Center (3700 Blue Pkwy) - 12PM - 4PM with Performances by Beijing King, Twistedhair Freemind, Fatha Figga, Siir Trip, Ray of Light, MO5, Christian Fly & Clark Roosevelt. 

• ⁃ Welcome 2 Wyandotte Showcase @ Dewey’s (612 N 5th St KCK) - 8PM - Midnight


Day 6 - Friday June 6th 

  • First Friday with Energy & Jams Show of KKFI Crossroads @ 19th & Wyandotte - 5PM - 9PM

  • SlapCity - The Pavement: Cypher & Freestyle LIVE STREAM @ Swope Park Bandstand - 9PM


Day 7 - Saturday June 7th 

  • KC Fit Check Fashion Show @ 1820 Gallery (1820 McGee) - 3PM

  • Summer Jam Music Mixer @ Vine Street Brewery (2010 Vine) 7PM - 11PM

  • Comedy Jam @ 1820 Gallery (1820 McGee) - 7PM - 9PM

  • KCHHW Ending After Party @ Vine Street Brewery (2010 Vine) 9PM - 1AM


URBNKC was present for several events during the week, and to watch the city come together for the culture, the arts, the MUSIC; was a sight to see. The networking opportunities were massive as people from all walks of life/culture in Kansas City came together to create a vibe unlike any other. Throughout the week, we saw performances, features, guest speakers, artists, hosts, dj’s & highlights from like:
